Plan Crumb from Outer Space (Look at Facebook etc..)

Hello coldies! I've got a case of wacom pen hurting my thumb... maybe I've woken up and forgotten how to use it. I don't know.
Anyway!
Whats up with the whole world of bloggers going onto Tumblr? Tumblr this, tumblr that. I suppose it does make things look a little bit prettier, but aarghhh. I'm okay, hold back!!!! FROM THE BEN AND JERRYS.

Then theres Google + and Facebook! Twitter, and myspace... forums. Forums were popular, I'm not sure if they still are... yes i think they are, have always been useful and sometimes 'family-like' places.
Myspace was a popular one for the kids! And personally, i prefered it to Facebook as it gave more space for interesting design and colours. Now i hate it, because it is ugly, strange how our views change.
Facebook stole the spotlight, i think it may have been older people that began it's popularity. Sure! I know the story, I've seen the film( On a plane mind ), it began with university stalking.
But around the world i reckon it was parents and grandparents getting it to connect with their friends from the past (A new Friends Reunited). Kids tried to avoid Facebook, guh!!! It don't have the templates, the automatic ear squelching music!! But ONE kid joined Facebook, either because they were interested or their mum forced them..... So then their friends join in the.. 'fun'.

And now Facebook is a human catalogue of Earth. Like Argos, but with people. (If you don't know what Argos is, it's a shop that works like the internet. You read a bible, choose your favourite appliance or.. anything really, write down it's number and recieve your object over a desk. It's weird and I avoid it all costs.)

I don't think anyone ever expected Facebook to get so big, but it is basically the HELLO OLDER GENERATION WELCOME TO THE INTERNET, YOUR KIDS ARE ALREADY HERE. (Apart from the COOL Adults at the time, like animators...... newgrounds.com... i remember a few websites.. stickslaughter.com Lovely name.
Now hardly anyone does stick animation anymore, and rightly so, it was weird. Weird weird weird and a huge part of my growing up. Then Adam Phillips came along with his brains and experience as a disney mouse. He brought his spark to Flash, a program originally developed to just... make flashy images.. or buttons for websites. But Adam, and a few other smart founder daddies i don't care about came along and rocked the internet.
But now even Flash is being rejected (Well SWF anyway) Newgrounds is getting much less talented peeps than the old days and a few less visitors. (This is not a facT, just a guess because i'm cool)

Youtube came along. Youtube used to be a video website. A website where you go and watch videos, most of the videos were teenagers moaning about life, or doing badly edited comedy sketches. Some of these teens actually became web celebrities. (For a bit)
Youtube is now clogged with videos, so many.. the amount of videos and Gig that youtube uses blows my mind, I can only imagine a never ending.. string.. how long is a piece of string? I always imagine a string thats been cut with scissors so that .. does not make any sense to me.
Conclusion, youtube is huge! EVERYONE uploads to it, whether it is feature films or just bad quality phone videos of cats.. falling... FALLING, falling.
So anyway Google comes along with its magic control stick and GETS THE POWA. Google buys Youtube and suddenly the internet begins to change.
Suddenly 'Google Videos' Remember them? They no longer exist... suddenly they get deleted, they wipe into nothingness.
Replaced with youtube, the king of all things. Google, Youtube...the controllers of the world...... So who are the biggest peeps on the internet? Google and Facebook?
Twitter comes along, actually giving quite a fresh view of a 'lots of people' website 'with lots of people saying stuff'. It's short, its sweet and you are limited to saying a short sentance so you don't embaress yourself in front of celebrities)
TwoDetectives
Accidently used one of Freud's jumpers to unclog the loo. And i think he already has a brown one

I gave Freud a day off today after a suspect shouted some offensive stuff at him. He did not see the suspect so i got away with it this time

Facebook, Youtube and Twitter.

Google + is on the way, on it's horse to save the day.
I'd like to say it gives a fresh new look to Facebook... but theres something about it.... about Google.

I have 3 google email accounts, and because of the connected nature of ALL THINGS GOOGLE when ever i want to check these different emails, my Youtube channel logs out, then logs into another... (As my emails are connected to youtube)
So when i comment on your youtube video i could be ANYONE! Well out of three, my main channel (My preferred log in), my second channel and the Two Detectives channel. I never thought the internet could be wrapped up together, taming the internet.
So...Well something needs to be fixed there.
As if i decided to check one of my emails right now, this blogger would log out and I'd have to log back in to continue this.. ranty thing.

Anyway. That was the history of the internet from my perspective ............ well not really, but it was a blob of the social aspect (Any names used in this rant are completely fictional)

I like Google +, because its all white, like an ipod (I do not own any apple products, i have never owned any, maybe one day, when i see one in the market for 3 pounds... though i would like to get myself an MP3 player for ma moosic)

Facebook is big, like youtube, it is hard to imagine it exists, when it does. It is noisy and messy, it never started like that, but there ya go. I want to leave it, like many do, but with the connections there are on it, family and business, it would be silly to depart.

Twitter is good, also messy but more likable than Faceberk. And it is very easy to pretend you are a celebrity!

The Two Detectives: Sweet Murder

It came as quite a surprise when Detective Encyclopedia and Freud Lowhurt walked into the Daily Crumb office with their pitch.
They wanted us to film them doing what they do best, solving crimes. The two are well known for solving mysteries in the town of Tavistock.
We agreed.

Will they get so close to the murderer that it threatens their own lives?
Watch and see

This video is completely improvised by Nathan Viney and Matthew Menhenick. There was no script and pretty much no ideas before hand. Everything came as the day went as you will soon see.

Below: Cut to 10 minutes version

Ben Phelps, a fellow animator at Plymouth College of Art liked the video so much he drew some fan art!

Out of the job. Crumb Cancelled

A bird landed on a tree outside our office window earlier. It wanted to speak directly to Lord Elk of the South Maze Falorium.
"Sure.. i mean.. i've got him in my address book. What did you want him for?"
"I'm a wise old bird with information unsuited for such a mind. Only Lord Elk holds the brain to withstand such spoken words."

So i called Lord Elk and handed the telephone to the black bird that was now standing on my desk.
I waited as the bird held the phone up to his ear. Then it turned to me, "Sorry, did i not mention this being a private call. Could you please leave?"

Understanding the urgency i left my office and sat in the main hall where Sammy was putting up a post-it note 'Buy bread.'

Soon enough the bird opened the door and stared out at at me. "You can come in now boy."
Confused i went back into my office.
Everything was different. The walls were covered in stick built hammocks and the floor was worm-filled soil. There was a little shelf for the wine and my desk now had a typewriter and a bell.
"What do you think old boy? Top Notch update?"
"No.. No! What have you done to my office?"
"Sorry beach ball, this is my office now. Lord Elk sold it to me. Seems i offered quite a good price."
"What?"
"It was apparent you had nothing to pay him. No rent. Is this true?"
"Yes but..."
"What?"
"He's my dad," i answered.
"You and your monkeys are now trespassing on my land. You have fifteen minutes before i call the police. Pack up your stuff. I'm in charge."
The bird held a hand gun up to me. The bird was smiling, an evil grin.
I backed away slowly and closed the door behind me.
The bird screamed down the hall laughing, "Oh and by the way! The names Figg Lomero! And i'm officially cancelling The Daily Crumb. If you release ONE article after this, you'll be sent right to jail. I have that power."

Soon enough me and the monkeys ended up out in the sand.
So, without a job, or a home.....
This cell seems pretty good.

So now i'm writing articles from this jail cell. Sorry guys, it is quite difficult to get news while i am behind bars.
Well Nick let me borrow his laptop.

Here is a party we had at the Daily Crumb a few weeks ago...

Youtube description of below:

Murder Reflection song released online

Murder Reflection song released online

It was reported earlier in the week that musician, 'The General' walked out on his band, Ekalopse. This occured after a fight with fellow dog band member, Pupendai who apparently got violent after a drink.

Above is a picture of them producing song, 'Ekalopse can't make music', an earlier hit release. This song introduced Pupendai on vocals, Mr. Bindy (Green Helmet) on keyboard and backing vocals and the General (Rainbow ghost) doing everything else music-wise.

So the band was left with Pupendai and Mr. Bindy. A witness had this to say, "Pupendai's been going down hill ever since he took up the drinking. He's an alcoholic and that is the end of it. He is not safe to be on our streets and in our music industry."

Another quote edged it's way onto TWITTER by music man Tom Jones "Mr. Bindy invited me for dinner... but he never answered his door. odd! But oh well!"

"He was the nicest man i ever met." said his mother.

Then suddenly yesterday Ekalopse released online a new song. It is titled, "Blood Eyes Reflection."
It is basically Pupendai admitting and going through the mental unstableness of murdering a friend.
The song has been released with promo pics (Below) and apparently was enough evidence to lock him up for life.
Pupendai is now in jail.

Pupendai after arrest: "I don't know why i did it. I scream out that it was only a nightmare but god, there it is. Bindy is dead, remember when he released 'We Start Living' and 'Waltzing Matilda live'? Before the General left he was working on some great tracks so i thought i'd use them, make some of my own, adjust and sing.... I guess this is my last song. I hope not."

Song Lyrics:
No shoes no legs. its back to bed
no place for you here. we're living you're dead

Turn your phone off
You're not useing it anymore. no arms just a head

(I don't mind)
All the corpses moving. ghost trains are glooming
and all of them are coated red
(I don't mind)

Eyes
Blood Eyes
(Believing you're dead)
Lies
Mud Eyes
(Believing you're dead)

Eyes
Blood Eyes
(Believing you're dead)
Lies
Mud Eyes
(Believing you're dead)

We all stand at the top of a miserable day
Oh Lay for you
Oh lay
Today
We all stand in a miserable day today
Pupendai say
Bindy goodday

Now the angers axed and lights flash
And i'll be gone
I'll be gone

The Daily Crumb Museum Nov 2009

When artists have nothing new to say they go back to their old work. For many years The Daily Crumb have kept a photobucket log of drawings and animations.

A memory box opened up whilst searching and we discovered something. Crumb was, for about 2 weeks, going to be an animated character with friend Odei.

That was Odei.
His friend Crumb only made it into one digital drawing

I'm sure you agree that it was lucky this was never made.

I thought, for the first time in Daily Crumb history. I could give you a look at my very first Flash Animation.
I always claim that Tomothy Live 1 is my first. Well it is my first proper cartoon (However terrible) but this one here, this was the first.

This is Flame Boy.
Click on the link
http://www.truploader.com/view/084275

The computer says it was made in 2004, like the Tomothy Live episodes.

*

Now! Some more history maybe?
Over the years nathanviney.com or 'munchmedia' has gone through a lot of website design changes. Here are some examples.

These are not in any particular order.
This one being my fave (Click for bigger pics)

Eeeww!

So anyway
Nowadays i care less about my website design so if you visit you'll actually find it is a mixture of two.
As long as people know where they are going i am happy. The problem with my fave design (first posted bubbles) was all the links lead to new window pop ups. There was a lot of error with that and it was difficult to update without problems.

But the Museum has not finished yet!

I've still got some very old animations to show.
This being one of them.
Before munch was a little blond haired boy with a green and white scarf he was a BIG ORANGE BIRD.
Yeah that didnt last very long.
Check it out here
http://www.truploader.com/view/476753

And now last but not least i actually made a second PEANUTS Tribute no one ever saw.

I hope you enjoyed viewing and reading about a little bit of The Daily Crumb's history.

I have not worked on the new animation, Cliff and the End of the Rainbow for about a week now but here is a screenshot.
One in which i am quite proud of.

A Big Post about Everything

Today in the news it may or may not be Blogger's birthday. This information came up when we saw a picture of a birthday cake on the logo that heads the blogspot pages.

Now the world is full of different news. Things like japanese men having successful business careers and animators doing fantastic freelance work in Sydney, Australia.
But who was it that said the most important news is, at home?
And who else was it that said, home is where the fridge is? That was garfield.

So in todays post i will be showing and talking about the happenings .. here

So first off.
The Daily Crumb are working on a new cartoon (It is only in idea and design phases now.)

It is a whole of a lot different to what has been done in the past.

To start off.
Do you remember Madeline?
Little orange hair american girl with a french accent from the original cartoons?

Ringing bells? Well as we are casting new actors for the new roles in the film Madeline actually turned up!
Though shes a bit older now..

Though the old french woman did inspire us a little. Why do such complicated drawings when you can 'go a bit simple' and still get away with the story?
Well i ended up going simple with the faces anyway as you will see hopefully.

The films title is
To the end of the Rainbow
or just End of the Rainbow
or Cliff and the end of the Rainbow
or just Cliff?
but not Rainbow... never Rainbow.
Anyway i will get back to you with that.
It will be Daily Crumb's first fantasy adventure film.

But before i go into that here are some of the other.. odd looking witches that auditioned for the role of THE WITCH.

Bit bland love.
Poor girl, looks sick.

Sorry, do you even know what a witch is?
Then she turned me into a frog

Thats what i'm talking about! Look at those colours! But no, not quite what we're looking for sorry.

So they were all kicked out..
until one of their twins auditioned.

Back to the fantasy thing.
I write crazy stories all the time. Some make sense, most of them don't. And none of them are read.
I've never been brave enough to put a story of mine properly onto screen. Apart from when i did You Can't Handle the Knowledge which i think failed storywise.

So anyway this will be my fantasy debut i feel.
As i say, i'm not brave so this might never get made.

FANTASY/ADVENTURE

Matthew Menhenick, as you may know is the king of Fantasy down here in Plymouth. His stories are full of strange creatures and different adventures for Blob and his many other characters. He works pretty hard as well for some reason. He should really enter them into competitions. We all should.
But wasting our time aside his work has always inspired me.

Some of the best stuff is magical, fantasy, mythical. Look at the Brackenwood Series. A masterpiece.

So anyway i'd like to point out Matthew is working once again on another BLOB story. An expected bestseller.

You can see all updates and screenshots here

Here are some of my faves.

Check out that guys hat.

So thats him. Go check his work out http://www.youtube.com/menhenick

*

Next up on the list that has not been written yet i must go into the future and make sure i write it for my future self to pick it up and give it to my present self.
..
is Rainbows.

If my film has a rainbow in it.. i might as well study them.

My sister made her own.

and.. a picture i took

full stop.

Thankyou for reading, viewing or skimming this article.

For those who read, you must be ever so proud.

Unfortunately this design will not be used.

News at The Daily Crumb

The office is rather quiet at the moment here at Daily Crumb Studios. We have many rooms designated to different work areas. Writing, drawing, equipment, casting, kitchen...

I'm just looking at the schedule on the writing room door. At 10.00 this morning Jerome was in here. Oh yes i remember that, he came in dressed as cleopatra. Though as i recall he did nothing at all the whole time he was here. I think he just fell asleep on the keyboard, poor soul.

11:00 i met Para Cat in there for a hot chocolate. He's been trying to get the company to start up Stargazed again but it just won't happen, not yet. Para did try and enter the music scene recently but got pushed aside by the other 'various high voice' band 'Ekalopse', who recently got number 1 album.
I suggested he take part as an extra in our Doctor Who animation coming soon. We're doing some of the last bits of filming next week. I hope he can make it, a little bit of extra money i suppose.

But all in all i'm worried about Para Cat. I would not say this to his face but i just dont think his drawn image is one that could lead a film. He's not even popular enough to write his own bio. But i'm sure they'll have a place for him on 'I'm a Celebrity, Get me out of here!'
But he will always be on my list.

12:00 Rehearsing. Matt Smith and David Tennant came in. When i looked in they were just dancing to a booming stereo. The monkeys went crazy! They started throwing paperwork all over the place.
(They were writing next weeks news)
Oops...

1:00 Nap time for the chimps in the centre office here. We're all working together now to get to you high quality film and written work.
None of the TWEETS on twitter are actually me. They are all written by Glen, a very smart monkey. He recently started here and updated us about this 'Twitter' world. Saying all the kids got it so why don't we?

Please email me if he says anything insulting.

Impact was in the kitchen earlier making some Pancakes for pancake day. I'm not sure when that is. But i suppose we'll be prepared here at The Daily Crumb.

Adam Phillips came in today actually. He came in his personal ToonBoom helicopter, almost ripped the side of the building off.
He asked if we wanted to put up some ToonBoom orange wallpaper around the place or perhaps try some tasty ToonBoom on a stick.
We declined but kept a bit of wallpaper rolled up in the equipment room incase we could be bothered to get off our lazy backsides and learn how to put it up.

Adam stayed for a while staring at our fish finger tank stolen from Bristol Museum's Banksy Exhibition.

You may have noticed we have more staff, more money, and a proper office. Rather than a grubby shed on the outskirts of Penny Lane.

This is because we actually found the end of the rainbow. We might tell you about that in a future film.

Oh! Sammy the Monkey has just turned off the lights which means it is a bye bye from me!
Sammy says bye as well. Hold on.

Sorry just asked him to turn the fan off. I find it funny when he has to stand on a chair to reach things and press buttons.

Ok goodnight The Daily Crumb readers and of course, those faithful victims of SPAM.
Have a nice day

Red text comedies.

Today in the news this is a pointless post for pointless people.

There it is again!
Red text comedies!
Another one! they just keep coming.
They are the films that pass us by and get forgotten.. untill they are shoved in front of our eyes again. (Usually)
THICK, RED, BLACK CAPITAL LETTERS

Red makes it's way into a lot of American comedy logos. Over time you will notice more of these being released after reading this.
As Dreamworks pumps out storyless animated adventures about fluffy animals (no offense kung fu panda) America continues to make these comedies.

Maybe i should just say, GET SOME MORE UNIQUE LOGOS, YOU ALL LOOK THE SAME!
Hazah!
Red text has become the automatic comedy logo for American films. i noticed it on a lot of Eddie Murphy films as well.

Sorry Simon

Just have a look around and you will see :D Daddy day care, Cehaper by the Dozen,
This one might not be red.
but it still has that thick/thin thing going on

And here is one that has seaped into the UK

aaaaand now
just to prove my point

mmm pancakes

You get the picture.. a lot of them.

Update:
Also
It has come to my attention that a new Red text comedy film has been released. You may recall these are the many bold RED text american films with RED text actor names on the posters and logos.
BenjaminBiscuitboy

BenjaminBiscuitboy
in
FAT FUNNYAND BISCUITS

AdamSandler ReeceWitherspoon and SteveCarell
in
NOT ANOTHER RED TEXT COMEDY
But this time we are in for a treat, for the influence of Christmas is on our side. A spark of GREEN

And it is not all about the full title you know.
On almost every single poster and logo i have on this page the main 'actors' names are written in the same way. Red, and Black.
